The amazing lights just add to the draw of Las Vegas, with a sense of being somewhere you have never been before, yet leaving you (or at least me) with the child like joy of being in an arcade when I was 10 years old. Las Vegas runs more lights to attract their crowd than any other city in the world, so much so it is as much a part of the Las Vegas culture as the Las Vegas Strip itself.

Las Vegas stands out in the Nevada desert as a tropical oasis for the desert travelers in search of her, and of course Las Vegas is female.  Just look at the image below to see how Las Vegas looks from just a few miles away, standing alone but bright and welcoming.

You can see the scattered lights of the Las Vegas suburbans that have begun to reach around it, but still get a very clear idea of how Las Vegas stands out amongst itself. The strip of Las Vegas far brighter than anything else, and far more colorful, literally an oasis of color in the middle of the desert as you approach.
