Folies Bergere in Las Vegas at the Tropicana

Folies Bergere is one of the best shows that I have had the chance to personally see. This is a show that has no real point but is yet entertaining in the manner that it is something to watch while you eat and or drink, sorft of a social event. The Folies Bergere show takes you through the history of women in the early 1850′s to the sexy sultry women on the 21st century. This is a show that is best seen in the late shows and the entertainers are then topless and it seems (having seen both) that is how the costumes were designed to be orgionally.

The Folies Bergere show was first brought to Las Vegas in 1959 but it has been recently “re-invented” adding a tribute to the women of the 1940′s as well as re-creating many of their costumes. I just think that this is the perfect type of show for a casino like Tropicana, it is very laid back and an atmosphere you can really relax in. Although seating is kinda close (especially the free seats that the Trop gives out as part of their rewards program).

It is a great transition that really makes you think when you as part of the audience are taken to a time in the 1850′s when relationships were based on courting and long term commitment and less based around sex, but you can see as the audience is moved through time and stage that allot has changed including the representation of women both by them selves and by society as a whole.

NVVegas.com gives the show Folies Bergere a rating of 7 out of 10 stars. If your looking for a show to blow you away this is not it, if your looking for a show to bring the kids to, this is not it (kinda kills the point of the show even). But if you are looking for a fun social place where you can eat/drink while watching the history of women performed by topless women. This is a great inexpensive show.
