Platters-Sahara Las Vegas Show
The members of the Platters were Tony Williams, David Lynch, Tenor, Alex Hodge, Baritone, Herb Reed, Bass and Zola Taylor. Toni Williams was the lead vocalist. He died in 1992. In 1953 this group was formed in Los Angeles. In October 1955 the Mercury label revised the recordings.
They reached the top 10 in 1956. Sammy Lowe arranged a song My Prayer that was become the group’s second number one pop song. The Platters recorded the song in 1958 which was written by Buck in 1938 went to the first place in the Charts. In 1959 the Platters group was changed within. Sonny Turner replaces Tony Williams in the year 1961. Sandra Down replaces Zola Taylor.

In 1966 new member was introduced into the group called Nate Nelson. He was the former member of Flamingos. I Love you 1000 times and With This Ring are some of the Song Sung by Sonny Turner which lead to great success. Luther Dixson wrote both songs. It was released on Musicor label. The Platters along with Cornell Gunter’s Coaster and the Marvelletes performed in the Sahara Congo’s room.
They usually perform with 20 hits from 50s and 60s. Listening to Platters will take us back to the time of 50s. “Only you”, “The Great Pretender”,”Yakety Yak”,”Charlie Brown”, “Please Mr. Post Man” are some of the hits which are usually performed by this group. The Platters is very famous for best selling hits including “Twilight Time”. The Platters perform every day evening.
