How to Play Pontoon

The intention of the game pontoon is that the cards at your hand must be close to 21 but not exceeding it at the same time greater than the dealer’s sum. The game is usually played with one or two standard 52 cards deck. In this game, there would be some points awarded to different denominations of the card. The cards ranging from 2 to 10 have points that are equal to the face value of the card. Other cards such as king, queen and jack are allotted 10 points. An ace may either take a value 1 or 11. The rules of the game go as follows:

1. Each player will be dealt with two cards by the dealer. Before receiving these two cards the dealer must pay his wager. The dealer then deals himself with two cards that will be kept facing down.
2. You can call a hit, and drag a card until you feel you are close to the total 21. You can also stand with the given cards if you are confident that you are closer to the total of 21. At the maximum you can have only 5 cards at your hand.
3. You could also split the cards in your hand into two. In pontoon you can split only cards of the same rank.
4. You could also double the wager and this can be done at anytime in the game.
5. The same thing is done by each player around the table and finally the dealer deals with his cards. He\she can either hit or stand or also can claim for a pontoon.
6. You are a loser if your count is over 21 or if the dealer is closer then you to 21.
